A school trip is a logistics operation that happens to be carrying children. Flock is the operations layer behind it — built for the work that starts before the buses load and keeps changing until everyone is home.
Why we built it
The hardest part of a trip is not the destination. It is the count. Who is on which bus, who wandered to the gift shop, which student carries an EpiPen, who to call when something goes wrong — and keeping all of it straight across a city, with a clipboard and a group text.
That work has been done with spreadsheets, printed lists, and a lot of nerves. Flock exists to give the people responsible for a trip one calm place to run it from — so the count holds, the right context is there the moment it matters, and no one is improvising an emergency response on a sidewalk.
Who we build with
Flock is built with the people who do this for a living: trip leaders who have run the same field trip a dozen times, school nurses who know which detail cannot be missed, and district administrators who answer for every roster in their care. The product is shaped by their day, not by a generic tracking dashboard.
What we believe
One focused tool beats five half-used ones. Every piece of Flock is small enough that a trip leader can explain it to a substitute in ninety seconds, and together they replace the spreadsheet, the group text, and the clipboard — without adding a system no one has time to learn.
Sensitive data deserves real protection, not a privacy page that says so. Access is scoped by role and by trip and enforced at the database level, location is shared only while a trip is active, and medical records are seen only by the people who need them. Restraint is a feature. We add slowly and cut often, because a safety tool earns trust by doing a few things reliably — not by doing everything.
